The Mindsight Institute Founders

The Mindsight Institute was founded by Dr. Dan Siegel and Caroline Welch with the goal of making the science of well-being accessible for professional and personal development.

Dr. Dan Siegel is a graduate of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Siegel completed his postgraduate training at UCLA specializing in pediatrics, and adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry. He was trained in attachment research and narrative analysis through a National Institute of Mental Health research training fellowship focusing on how relationships shape our autobiographical ways of making sense of our lives and influence our development across the lifespan.

Dr. Siegel is also the Founding Co-Director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, where he was also Co-Principal Investigator of the Center for Culture, Brain and Development and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine. An award-winning educator and author, he is a recipient of an American Medical Writers Association Alvarez Award.

Caroline Welch is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern California. She has spent time as an English teacher in Japan, corporate litigator, court-appointed mediator, and in-house counsel at two Los Angeles studios. In addition, she is a published author and provides workshops and lectures on strategies for optimizing personal and professional well-being.

The combined backgrounds of Dan Siegel, MD, and Caroline Welch provided the foundation for the Mindsight Institute to become a go-to resource for both professionals and individuals looking to improve their well-being.
