If you’re honest, you’ve felt it—the frustration of doing
everything “right” and still watching certain clients repeat the same
rigid, reactive patterns.
You’re not missing skill. You’re
not missing effort.
What’s been missing is a framework that
explains why clients get stuck—and shows you exactly how to
intervene.
That’s what this training delivers.
Built on
the Patterns of Developmental Pathways (PDP) framework developed by Dan Siegel, this
training gives you a clear, clinically usable map of how
personality patterns form—and how to shift them.
In just
two days, you’ll learn how attachment, temperament, and
development shape nine breakthrough personality patterns—and
exactly how those patterns drive your clients’ responses to trauma, stress,
and relationships.
You’ll walk away with targeted,
pattern-specific interventions that plug directly into EMDR, CBT, IFS,
somatic work, and more—so you can help clients move out of rigidity
and reactivity and into regulation, flexibility, and real
connection.
Earn up to 12 CE hours,
elevate your clinical impact, and join Dr. Dan Siegel in this groundbreaking
certification experience to be one of the first clinicians to become a Certified
Attachment and Personality Patterns Specialist (CAPPS)*.

- Move beyond traditional pathology-based “personality disorder” labels to recognize universal adaptive strategies underlying personality
- See how temperament drives each client’s ways of coping, relating, and growing
- Uncover how attachment experiences lead to low or high levels of personality functioning
- Integrate research linking temperament, attachment, and systems like the Enneagram
You’ll walk away with:
A compassionate,
science-informed lens for understanding personality as an adaptive process
toward wholeness and human flourishing—helping you uncover new routes to
healing, integration, and growth.
- Discover the PDP framework as a neurobiologically informed model of personality and adaptation
- Understand how safety, regulation, and integration shape growth across the lifespan
- Identify how temperament and its motivations and attentional orientation form each personality pattern’s foundation
- Recognize how trauma and non-secure attachment leads these adaptive strategies toward lower levels of integration—and what growth-edge work restores balance and cultivates higher adaptive functioning
You’ll walk away with:
A clear, science-based
framework for mapping personality through psychological development, attachment,
and neurobiology—revealing the deeper logic underlying your clients’
behavior.
- Translate brain science into tools that transform personality patterns from prisons of chaos and rigidity to playgrounds of connection and possibility

- Combine the personality patterns framework and IPNB models to design interventions for real, lasting positive change
You’ll walk away with:
Practical tools to help
clients move toward higher levels of personality adaptation and flourishing,

- Map AAI findings to your client’s personality patterns, combining PDP-specific growth edges with integrative growth toward a secure attachment stance
- Translate assessment data into personalized treatment and repair strategies
- Deepen your own inner-awareness and attunement as a reflective clinician, building on the notion of “clinician, know thyself”
You’ll walk away with:
A structured, PDP-informed
and attachment-based method for assessing both personality patterns and the
security of attachment—giving you a reliable roadmap to guide targeted,
integrative treatment at both the level of personality functioning and of
attachment.
- Identify and work effectively with all nine core personality patterns
- Trace how early temperament form the foundation of each pattern and how attachment moves the expression of that personality toward low or high levels of adaptive functioning
- Pinpoint each client’s “growth edge” to foster integration and regulation
- Help clients use their Personality Pathways map to prevent burnout and build relational resilience
You’ll walk away with:
A step-by-step clinical

Full length-demonstration: Dan Siegel Demonstrating Use of PDP in Clinical Work
In this demonstration, Dr. Dan Siegel will walk through the full PDP framework with a client in session.
Secure Attachment Figure Exercise
In this experiential practice, Dr. Dan Siegel guides you through a neurologically grounded meditation to develop an internalized secure attachment figure. Through this practice, you will learn to transform non-secure attachment stances into an earned sense of being seen, soothed, and safe that travels with you into your clinical work and your life.
Expanded Wheel of Awareness Practice with Personality Patterns and Attachment Array
In this immersive, extended Wheel of Awareness practice, Dr. Dan Siegel will guide you through all nine personality patterns, the three forms of non-secure attachment, and the plane of possibility — weaving together the full CAPPS framework into a single experiential journey. This practice is designed to help you embody the science of integration from the inside out, both for your own growth and for the clients you serve.

Dear Fellow Therapist,
Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with clients, colleagues, and students across the globe—and one thing I keep hearing is how stuck therapy can feel when protective patterns take over.
At one point, these patterns kept someone safe. But now? They're keeping them from healing.
That's what led me to develop the Patterns of Developmental Pathways (PDP) Model. Not as a new theory, but as a map—a way to make sense of these patterns, and more importantly, a way to help clients move through them.
This work comes from decades of practice, study, and listening. It's the most integrative and applied model I've created—built for clinicians who want to work at the level where change actually happens.
I'm honored to finally teach this work in a full-length course. I hope it supports you the way it's supported me—and helps you feel less alone when the work gets hard.
Warmly,
Dan Siegel, MD
